Entire Families Benefit From Chiropractic Treatment

By Dr. Rachelle Kirk

Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy, infancy, and childhood sets the foundation for a lifetime of optimal health. Children who have experienced routine chiropractic treatments have a far easier time reaching developmental milestones, and have increased athletic ability.

Chiropractic During Pregnancy

Expectant mothers who undergo chiropractic treatments usually experience an easier transition throughout their pregnancies. Due to weight gain, postural changes, and ligament laxity during pregnancy, many women are prone to develop low back pain, neck pain and foot pain. Our office has a special table for expectant mothers designed with a break-away section in the center to reduce pressure on the abdomen during treatments. The majority of our expectant mothers experience increased levels of comfort, and more hours of quality sleep after receiving chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Care for Infants

Over the years we have been delighted to provide chiropractic care to a number of beautiful little babies in Flagler county and in the surrounding area, some who were suffering from colic-like symptoms, others who simply couldn’t sleep for more than an hour or two at a time. We use the tips of our fingers to provide the gentlest manipulations imaginable. Many parents have thanked us once their tiny bundle of joy began sleeping more comfortably following chiropractic treatments.

Chiropractic Toddler Care

Chiropractic care enjoys a high success rate for helping toddlers who were initially thought to need tubes in their ears. We urge parents to please consider a more natural alternative to surgery. Toddlers who make a habit of falling repeatedly are also prone to misalignments of the spine and pelvis.

Chiropractic for School-age Kids and Teens

Children who are at risk for musculoskeletal injury include: 1) children who carry heavy backpacks, 2) children who are active in sports, 3) children who spend a great deal of time on the computer or playing computer games. Please consider speaking with a chiropractor if you notice your child regularly complaining about back pain, neck pain, or headaches. Also contact your chiropractor if you notice your child demonstrating consistently poor posture.

Chiropractic Treatment for Adults

An individual’s specific vocation and chosen hobbies often dictate how often chiropractic treatments are necessary. A person with a physically demanding career (i.e. carpenter, waitress, plumber, hairstylist, karate instructor) is more prone to injury, and often requires additional attention spent rehabilitating and maintaining their musculoskeletal system. A person who spends a great deal of time driving a vehicle (i.e. truck driver, bus driver, realtor), or who has a high-stress job (i.e. nurse, bank manager, teacher, stay-at-home mom) may also need chiropractic care more frequently than other individuals.

Chiropractic Treatment for Active Seniors

Our patients who are active seniors have noticed numerous benefits from chiropractic care including: decreased pain and stiffness, increased balance and coordination, increased health and well being, and decreased incidence of falls. We are pleased that so many of our seniors exercise regularly and are involved in various sports and community organizations. Although aging is a normal process, we strive to minimize the progression of osteoarthritis, and to help our seniors maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
